Accessorizing your Work of ART!

To be able to market your piece of art in the Luxury Goods industry highly depends upon the way the collection is presented in front of the viewers. It has to be pleasing to their eyes, not only the fine work of craft but the entire campaign needs to portray the much needed emotions to be successful!

When it comes to a Jewelry campaign, the designer does not stop at the mere photo shoot of its creativity but explores many other options to gain as much recognition as possible. Majority of the designers prefer to host a small Champagne event, inviting the people of the industry and the elite class of the region and the press is always looking for such events to gather some gossip!

Other than using models and such events to promote their collections, Designers have recently learnt the importance of using the correct jewelry countertop display products. To be able to acknowledged among the masses one needs to impress every visitor in his store. It is only possible if the store carries the same feel and emotion as the Designer's Jewelry does.

The options of display units are also not limited in today's time. Yes, there was a period where there was not much innovation in this sector but the dynamics of the industry are very much different. The awareness of the importance of reducing the Carbon Footprint has led the Jewelry Display and Packing sector of the industry to come up with Greener Products and use nature as their inspiration to create the perfect Jewelry Display!

Who's Ready to Grow their Own #Jewelry this #Christmas ???

Jewelry- It can now be grown!

What if you were told that the beautiful necklace around your neck was printed! You would surely be in the state of shock and surprise and probably tell me off calling a lunatic, but you would surely be intrigued about the new ways of manufacturing jewelry and jewelry displays.
In today’s technologically advanced world of manufacturing, the ways of production have positively evolved. This advancement has had its benefits and consequences that have been criticized over the years, mainly the downsizing of human resource in the production line. The manufacturers of jewelry, jewelry packing and jewelry stands face a similar challenge from now onwards. The invention of MLAB Machine that is basically a 3-D printer is now able to print the virtual jewelry designs from metal dust.

The positive outcome of this invention is that it is stable, fast and has almost zero wastage while producing the jewelry. It uses laser to melt and shoot the metal dust to the specific point and build the design particle by particle. The process looks to the naked eye as if the beautiful design is slowly growing and coming to life.
The downside of such production method would be eliminating the human emotion and craftsmanship from the equation. A jewelry designer is inspired by the exotic beauty of nature and attempts to transfer his imagination and understanding of the beauty into his work when he sits down to craft it. It would be very difficult to achieve this human emotion when producing jewelry in such manner.
The methods have not yet been implemented by all but many of the profit oriented manufacturers are bound to take advantage of this mass producing technology. Their selling point seems to be to make jewelry affordable as the discussed method has zero wastage and costs less to produce without the human hands involved.

Modem World Of Luxury Goods...

Appearance is equally important, if not more, to the quality behind it, when it comes to us making a purchase. Either it is a necessity product or a luxury good it follows the same phenomenon. Our minds work in such in-explainable ways that whatever looks good seems good to us. A bond of trust is instantly created that is hard to break.

Showcasing the art of jewelry making is no different. The beautiful jewelry requires exquisite aesthetics around it to feel proud and stand out. The jewelry displays in stores need to be critically designed as per the above phenomenon, so that they help the jewels shine even brighter in the buyer’s eyes and mind. This methodology has been in practice for many decades but for once it is now being challenged by the ever evolving technology. We see more and more virtual jewelry stores with latest trends and designs. We can make a purchase via our credit cards and wait for our glittering new accessory to be delivered at our doorstep. This might seem like a terrific idea, but is it the same as being in a jewelry store, surrounded by all that beautiful artwork and able to try the design you like right off that jewelry stand?

One should only and usually does, buys a jewelry product when s/he can feel bold and look beautiful wearing it. The high resolution pictures on the internet do bring the artwork closer to our eyes but the important part of wearing it and looking your own self in the mirror is not possible. Therefore the question here is regarding our preference to the ease of access to information or to stand out looking ‘de toute beauté’.

Learning with the CEO...

Every conversation is a learning experience is what I believe in. Many do not agree with this as their perspective is to engage only in positively oriented talks but to be able to succeed in our short life span we need to stay informed of both the positive and negative aspects of our surroundings.

It is not at all a common sight in any office that you see the CEO sitting alongside you in your cubical and discuss with you your performance and address the issues to help you improve, learn and grow. I was fortunate enough to have experienced such an event as I continue to learn about the Luxury Goods Industry. As the Overseas Business Development and Marketing Consulatant for Numen Jewelry Packing and Display Co. Ltd, a leading jewelry countertp display products manufacturer and other display and packing products, I was given the opportunity to engage in a valuable discussion with our respected CEO at TradeKey regarding my work progress as being part of a service industry requires more than normal efforts to survive!

The passion he wears for the success of his company that is only achievable through the success and constant growth of his employees is commendable. During my short experience working as an Intern in the UK I was only once addressed by the Manager and was only told take my concerns to the supervisor. Such an incident forced me to build a perspective that had CEO of the company was someone who would only call me to let me know that my services are not needed anymore! That too only if he felt the need to do so!

The discussion was not only a learning one, but it was a reminder as well of the basic job description for the one subconsciously focused on the slow moving hands of that thing hanging on the wall. I did realize the importance of that extra mile that I had forgotten, when it comes to achieving our goals! The key to success is to remember the fact, that higher the quantity of efficient efforts would reap higher effective results for our Career Growth and increase our Knowledge. Most of us tend to forget this effective rule as it happened with me and I felt quite lucky to be part of such an environment where nurturing comes from the very top. A sight I personally never saw or heard about.

My above experience might seem too good to be true... but It did Happen and I am glad that it did!

Career Counselling... Do You Really Need It???

We have all been in the need of Career counseling at the start of our career. We needed direction, vision and morale boosting advice from someone who is an expert in such manners. We all were provided great deal of support from our Students' Union in the university but what I want to know and understand is, do we not need this help once we become part of a professional work place?

Here I wish for any one who is reading this to please let me know of their opinion regarding this. As far as I am concerned, I believe that at some point in our professional life, no matter how big or small our experience may be, we need some professional advice to give our career growth a path and a direction. You can probably sense I need some advice at this very moment, and I am hoping for your reviews on it.

Recently I took help of my best friend- my Mother regarding a few hurdles I was facing within myself while working as an Overseas Business Development Consultant for a company that is a jewelry display manufacturer and is a supplier of jewelry packing and jewelry display props. The problem I faced was if I was in the right direction? Am I really learning the corporate culture? Would this experience help me grow? These and many other questions had kept meddling with my mind and I can't thank my mother enough to help me sorth them out. For many it might not seem exciting enough, the tasks I perform, but I have managed to understand the essence of my work now. The corporate relation I have been able to build in the recent months is an achievement for me, the tools of marketing I have been able to use, the strategies and the results are overwhelming for me at least. This is self motivating and I hope to reap more out of it.

In a nutshell, what my Super Mom helped me identify is that it's upto me if I want to learn from my actions or wait for them to teach me one! Waiting for your take on this...

Many thanks!

As the title for this post suggests, the world around us is not the same as we knew it when we were young. It has gone through quite a few drastic changes over the past few decades. The change I am talking about is how #technology has literally seeped into our blood stream and has become a part of our living hood.

As of now I provide consultancy to a company regarding jewelry countertop display products, jewelry packing, and boxes but I believe that #technology has become an integral part of our social and professional life. May it be gaining information (such as this blog, hopefully), exploring trends, shopping for personal use or using some B2B portal for expansion of business. All these and many of the activities are only tied together with the help of ever evolving technology. Google has taken the entertainment, especially the gaming community to a whole new level of interaction with the augmented world. The very idea of being physically inside a game has lead to many science fiction movies, tv series and books but this time Google has made it possible in a very realistic way.

#Ingress is the new reality augmented game that has been launched by the big G and Niantic Labs for the android device users. Everything that surrounds you, is part of the game. Your family, your room, your street, even your favorite hangout spot! This time We really are the Players and This Our World, is the limited area to play in.

I have been able to test the game to some extent, unfortunately my current residing area does not allow me to roam around with my tablet on the streets. Yet I have been able to get the flavor of the beautiful leap taken by the developers here, and I am more than impressed. I still have to get hold of the whole idea of hacking portals and saving the world in this game but I already love it and can't wait to explore it!
All those who have tried the game, Happy Hacking... While the rest, Put your TRON Suits on!!!

Aussie Jeweller goes Vampire!

It isn't something to be alarmed about! But it is definitely something to be a little excited about... I cam across this piece of news while looking for news and trends in Luxury Goods industry after a long day at work. I was starting to feel a little low and tired from the day long talks with various Buyers and Suppliers of Jewelry Countertop Display Products, Jewelry Packaging Products and etc.

Australian Jeweller, Logan has teamed up with the hit US TV series' - The Vampire Diaries' Star, Phoebe Tonkin for the launch of his new Jewelry Campaign. It is good to see that the Australian Jeweler is keen on signing local and up coming stars from the country as their brand ambassador.

Phoebe Tonkin from 'The Vampire Diaries' showcases Logan's designs in a new campaign.
The expected outcome from the upcoming 2013 Jewelry campaign from Jan Logan with Phoebe as their brand ambassador is to increase the international following for the brand and still keep the Australian heritage and emotions to it. The artist's on going role in the hit TV series should provide enough increase in the fan following area for the jewelry brand to pin the next years campaign a successful one. This is exactly the kind of wise marketing that is required by a company to stand in today's competitive business world!

Can Skin and Glamour Still Sell Everything?

I know I know, the topic I am about to discuss is controversial and debatable but in the world of marketing and advertising it is widely assumed that 'Presentation and Show of Skin' can basically sell anything!

I would disagree not the 'Presentation' part of the above statement but the latter. A women's sensuality does bring a much needed appeal among the targeted audience of the product, but in my personal observation in recent times the ladies have started to lose their 'X-Factor'. Luxury Goods industry in particular made extensive use of the above mentioned statement when promoting their products with use of skinny models with the perfect curves to place their image in the viewers' minds. Not to offend the power of a woman's beauty but digital imaging computer programs have taken the marketing of these products to a whole new level!

The Jewel industry is more keen on promoting their art in their outlets using unique and exquisite jewelry countertop display products and decorate their online presence with High Resolution pictures of their products highlighting their Artwork! The way a jewelry is promoted today is very different to how it was marketed a decade ago. The much needed oomph factor can now be seen via emotions of a Jewelry Designer in his online product catalog.

Would certainly like to know your opinions to my disagreement of the best performing advertising formula!

What keeps Me Going on a Lazy Monday Morning!

Working as a business and marketing consultant in a Luxury Goods industry itself is strong enough catalyst for me to last through the week in the office but the Laziness that Monday Mornings bring is just a tad too much.

Smell of the freshly made coffee is what lifts me up from under the covers and prepares me for the week ahead. The Giant cup of Cappuccino is my source of that much needed jolt of motivation to deal with the office deadlines. Consultancy itself may not seem like a job where much work is needed but when it comes to marketing consultancy it is a complete stress out! It needs up to date industry research, news, and trends to come up with ideas and strategies that are worth implementing. Not only only that but to deal with the emails and inquiries for and from jewelry countertop display products, jewelry boxes suppliers, fashion jewelry traders and etc builds on to the stress bubble. For me the only thing that works to keep me calm and not go insane while at work is the timely intake of my dear coffee!

You might say that I am a bit too dependent and its just my brain playing games and coffee is not all that good for health but this picture on the right depicts my attitude with a regular supply of coffee. I do not even want to imagine the state I would be in if there is no more ......!

So what is in YOUR armory against the Lazy Monday Mornings???

Should You Invest in Chines Fine Jewelry?

When it comes to products that are 'Made in China', there aren't many that are readily appreciated in the international market. This makes extremely hard for the Luxury products produced in China to even try and compete with the industry giants! With such conditions for a Chinese business to be entrusted by a French Luxury conglomerate is some news.

Qeelin a Fine Jewelry Brand from China that is currently operating in good numbers in South East Asia and Europe has been able to attract investment from the French business PPR. This is an achievement for a brand from the Orient that has opened positive doors for other businesses in the exquisite industry. With finalizing of transaction in January 2013, it is expected for the jewelry tools and equipment industry to see a boost in their export to the Western World. The jewelry display tray manufacturers, stand, counter top display, boxes and pouches manufacturers/ suppliers can also expect to get busy early next year. For the Chinese Jewelry Industry Christmas may have come a little earlier but Santa's blessing would only be observed in the first quarter of next year!

The Curse, The Visit, The Crown Jewels!

Koh-i-Noor is one rare piece of Gem that has both beauty and history attached to it, oh wait it is also believed to be cursed! Yes that is correct, it is believed to have brought down kingdoms when it was worn by a Male Ruler but as per the Hindu Text dating back to 1306, only Women or a god can wear this jewel with impunity.

My visit to see the crown jewels heavily guarded at Tower of London was back in 2008. Of all the jewelry display and showcases in the royal jewel house I was most interested to get a good look at the best of them all- Koh-i-Noor. The beauty with which that stone shines is extremely hard to explain. What you see with your eyes cannot be captured through a camera or any such thing. The very first sight is so captivating that it is extremely hard to notice any other valuable in the room. I hated the fact that there were conveyors on which we were supposed to stand and go by the magnificent stone in like 10 second or so.

I knew I had to get  another look and hopefully a longer one this time round. Leaving my mother and sisters waiting in the gift shop I went back towards the entrance of the tower. It took me an extra 45 minutes to get through the queue and get the chance to be mesmerized by this nature's beauty yet again. All that wait was definitely worth it, the sheer pleasure you get is not explainable in words, one has to visit the Towers to be Hypnotized by it!

99.9% Pure Gold

I just can't wait to replace my store's featured Jewelry Display with live exhibition of this super bacteria producing Pure GOLD! I know I sound insane, even to myself when I type this but the great minds in Michigan State University have discovered a bacteria that naturally produces gold nuggets.

The bacteria has proven to survive in extreme toxic conditions and not only that but surprised the scientist as it surpassed their expectations. The experiment was conducted in a small Lab where the scientists used Gold Chloride a naturally occurring substance but extremely toxic. This was fed to the bacteria in an attempt to mimic the natural process and the results were astonishing. The bacteria over its natural course ended up producing 24-Karat-Gold.

You can further and detailed information about this Microbial-Alchemy on the university's website or Click on the Super Bacteria above!

I am Common and Still Rare!

Jewelry was something that was only worn by the elites of a Kingdom and that does not count for many! The first signs of Jewelry making were seen in Africa and Egypt. Out of the two places, more established and well crafted jewelry was discovered from Egypt where the wealthy not only wore Jewelry when alive but took it with them to their Grave.

Over the years the skills of crafting fine jewelry out of precious metals such as gold and silver has paid off the craftsmen handsomely and still continues to do so. As of now it is not limited to just gold and silver but many a people today prefer Sterling Jewelry. It is comparatively less costly but the rare craftsmanship is what makes it rare.

If we observe and think about various things that were considered rare in the olden ages but have lost that uniqueness, we can count many but we won't be able to find Jewelry in that List. The reason behind this is that we have not yet accepted jewelry as a non luxury item and have continued to constantly find rare gemstones to help the industry keep interesting. Secondly, the creativity, inspiration and aspiration of the Craftsmen has provided this art stability and constant growth. These efforts over the years have led to many sub industries that focus on keeping this luxurious industry alive, even in the worst financial crisis seen by the world.

One such industry is the Jewelry Display and Packing Industry. One needs the right means to display his art and Art is what I consider Jewelry Making to be. Similar amount of creativity and efforts are required to come up with a display unit that rightly blends with the emotions of the Jewels it would be required to Display! This is why I tag Jewelry as becoming Common yet staying Rare!

What makes your Retail Store stand out from the Crowd?

To be positively identified in the masses you need to make an impression. The way a business presents itself to its customers can either make or break it. Thus great importance is given to the aesthetics of retail store.

When it comes to selling Jewelry to the public the interior designing of the store, choosing the right jewelry display, the ambiance and the behavior of employees is what accounts towards an impressionable outlet.
Almaza Jewelers in Houston, Texas have been given the tag of ‘Coolest Store’ by Instore Magazine, USA’s most reputed jewelry mag.

The magazine's review shows that the this family owned business has been working over the years to maintain the essence of Luxury, Unique Designs and Rarity via its store. The store has only been known to the locals and has only relied on the strongest form of marketing when it comes to trust- 'the word of mouth'. This strategy and hard work behind the visuals and feel of the store has what made it the iconic store.

Importance of a Trade Show in Industry of Luxury Goods.

For a medium sized business it is very difficult to survive in today's fiercely competitive industries. Bigger brand names or multinational companies are able to stand out due to their research and innovation. It is not just about coming up with new products but to inform the right market in the best way is what enables them to survive in the competition. So, should a medium sized business look to quit the market, especially in the industry of Luxury Goods?

Certainly not, although the ways to promote and market our products and services has changed recently with leaps and bounds, our mind feels most satisfied with things it has tried and our body has experienced. Trade show is one and possibly the only medium that brings a large number of businesses from the same industry under one roof.

Several international trade shows occur that promote latest Jewelry Designs, Jewelry Supplies, Jewelry Equipment, Jewelry Packing, Jewelry Display and etc. This medium of promotion and lead generation is highly recommended among the businesses that specialize in crafting the precious metals to make us look good. Here we are able to promote our artwork to prospects from various different regions. Many are intrigued and appreciate the designs, the craft work and best of all, their mind feels comfortable and satisfied when investing in these expensive pieces of art.

This shows how trade show is vital for medium sized business to create their presence in the international market and enhance their credibility. This gives the saturated business a chance to survive the competition and direction to soon become one of the big players in the industry.

Implication of I.S.E.E Formula in Jewelry Industry!

Signage of your products or in other words, the way we present our goods to our customers is of greater importance than it is considered by many businesses. When it comes to the luxury industry and specially that of jewelry, using the correct combinations of Jewelry Displays and Stands is critical.

The stats indicate that displays with signs outperform displays without signs by 43%. This shows the importance of using signage on our displays. This is where the I.S.E.E comes into play its vital role. We need to make our displays a silent sales person for us and it is achieved via,

I stand for Inform. That means providing information about the product.
S stands for Sell. This means using the key selling phrase or word that attracts the customer, such as ‘New Arrival’.
E stands for Educate. The words we can use to educate the customer about the product while s/he is observing it.
E stands for Entertain. The catch phrase of the signage needs to be entertaining and captivating enough to be easily placed in our customer’s head.

The challenge we face is designing a display with all the above mentioned signage factors. It is not easy to achieve but once it is achieved, the results are surprisingly amazing.

The question you might ask here is how we incorporate this tool when it comes to showcasing our work of jewelry designs. We need to identify the theme and emotions of our jewelry and build our displays, stand, boxes etc. around it. The signage would need to be thought around the same idea.

Using a simple bust to promote and highlight your featured necklace would not do justice when the competition is fierce in the industry and competitors are looking for ways to stand out of it.
